Ret and You: Roll That Face Hard!

Hey everyone! This is Alex from Red Panda Army coming at you with a basic outlook on the Retribution Paladin. My aim is to get a set of guidelines and some basic information to help you, the aspiring faceroller, roll your face more effectively.

Here are some things to look at when you consider bringing a Ret Paladin to a raid(and who else could provide the benefit):

3% haste to raid: Ret / Moonkin

This week in RPA

So we had a bit of trouble this week with the servers. We got back to Valthiria and hoped to get Sindragosa down tonight but couldn't zone in because of a bug that was most likely caused by server problems we had last night (people were getting kicked and couldn't get back into the game). So we gave up on ICC 25 for the week and went over to TOGC and finally got down the Twins Valkyr.

Another interesting development.. the website hits were going crazy this week. We had a few thousand specifically on the Fury Guide and some really interesting searches. We usually get a ton of hits right around patch day so I expect Patch 3.3.3 will bring more people around. Feel free to make comments and register on our forums!

Next week promises to be a great week as we have our Sindragosa fight down (we have 2 groups on Lich King phase 3 in 10 mans) and should be testing Arthas very soon. If we can keep certain people off the cat porn and holding aggro on bosses, we should be in good shape.

Guild Leadership and Gaming

There are many different definitions for leadership. The one I like and use the most is that leadership is the ability to affect change, which basically means that it is the ability to make things happen via influence.

In the gaming world we have guilds or clans which operate much like companies. You have a hierarchy of roles which usually include a guild leader or leaders and a group of officers or core members that help the guild leader with the day-to-day operation of the guild.

The guild leader doesn't always have a title, it is basically the person with the most amount of influence in a guild. I've been in that kind of situation several times, where the person with the guild leader title was the organizer and rather casual while a guy that was on every night leading pvp raids and setting up city defenses was the true leader of the guild.

Traits of a Good Leader

Positive - A good leader keeps things upbeat. They minimize negativity in a guild and work to keep the morale of the guild up through the worst of times.

Passionate - They have to love the game and the guild. If they are down on the game, the guild will suffer.

Confident - A good leader isn't wishy washy. A good leader isn't afraid to change anything if he/she really believes in it, even if it is something in the game itself.

Strong - To be a good leader you have to be able to make hard decisions. Whether that is cutting someone who is dragging the guild down or making an unpopular decision you know is correct.

Good Listener - You have to be able to listen to the people in your guild, the advice they give you will help you make decisions.

Deliberate - Decisions must be weighed at times and all sides must be heard. Making rash decisions usually have the worst of outcomes.

Keylogger Targeting Authenticators?

Read about it this moring on WoR. It appears that there is a new keylogger out that specifically targets accounts with authenticators attached to them. From what I can piece together, the trojan uses what is called a "middle man attack" to fool users into believing that their authenticator has become compromised while it funnels the hacker any authentication codes the user inputs. Computers infected with the file EMCOR.DLL are at risk. You can read more about this issue in the following places:

Good News Everyone

The nutty professor is down, his lab has been vandalized and the slime pools are no longer working. We had been consistently getting close and we finally sealed the deal. On to the Blood-Queen!

Random Heroics + Spanish Cast = Awesome

Ok, our battle group has a few latin american servers and it can be "challenging" at times to communicate at times. I'm not sure why you would mix battlegroups this way, but whatever the case, it is where we are now. Spanish is my second language, although I have very rarely used it for gaming but I decided to go ahead and throw down some phrases I use pretty often.

Useful Terminology

Tank = Tanque

Healer = Sanador

Health = Salud

Mana = Mana (there is an accent on the last a but you won't have time to type that)

Phrases that might help when grouping with spanish speaking folks:

Water please = Agua estupido Mago, ahora cabron!

I need mana = Necesito Mana, pero no tengo agua, abrasame

Go faster = Tocame Mas Rapido

Stop! = Para! Mas Rapido! Para! Adelante! Para! Si, mas a la derecha

Don't be stupid = No seas bruto dame un beso

You are stupid = Eres bruto pero mi gusta tu culo

Shit! = Soy Mierda!

You are a great tank = Eres un bastardo

You suck = mi nombre es pablo y soy tu tio

Good job healing = Me gusta cuando me toca abajo

Oh no you didn't.. = ay yi ya

10-Man Groups Take Aim at the Lich King - Progression Update

Three of our 10 man groups have cleared past Putricide and the Lich King should get some attempts this week. While we are not a 10 man guild, it is a good way to prepare for 25-man progression where we got Putricide down to 7 percent and were consistently hitting phase 3 this past week. We know the Blood-Queen fight and did not attempt it last week (she would have gone down had we tried), due to server problems and opting to concentrate on our biggest hurdle (mallable goo?).

3 weeks of Tuesday night server problems have slowed us down, but all things point to this week being the one where we clear through Putricide and on towards Sindragosa in 25 mans.

Get yourself locked up

Account hacking is becoming more and more common. Three Panda accounts have been hacked in the last week alone. Having your account hacked sucks. You will have no gear, no money, sometimes your account will be linked to the hacker's authenticator making it a real pain in the ass to prove it is yours. It will take time and lots of hassle to get everything back to the way it was before.

Don't let another day go by without making an easy way to prevent this from ever happening, for the very low price of $6.50(or even free if you have a iPhone or Ipod Touch) you will be protected.
